Project — Hospitality FF&E
Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic
Project dossier
The Santiago hotel project is our home ground made visible: a full interior woodwork package for a Hilton Curio Collection property in the Dominican Republic, engineered, built and finished in our own factory and shipped install-ready to the Caribbean.
The signature piece is the grand arch — a sweeping curved timber structure that greets every guest at arrival. Arches of this radius are where most factories stop quoting: the glue-laminated segments, the veneer that has to follow the curve without breaking line, the site assembly that has to land on the architect’s sightline. We built the full-scale formwork, formed the segments in-house, dry-fitted the complete arch on our floor before crating, and shipped it as numbered modules with an assembly sequence for the local crew.
Around it, the package covers the guestroom and public-area joinery the property runs on — delivered with the numbered crating, installation manuals and node drawings that let a distant contractor install what we built without guessing.
Overcoming challenges
The grand arch demanded curved glue-laminated timber at a radius that rules out standard flat production, with a visible veneer line that has to run unbroken around the curve — and everything had to assemble on a distant site with a local crew that had never seen the pieces.
Full-scale formwork built in-house; arch segments laminated, machined and veneered on the form, then the complete arch dry-fitted and photographed on our floor before crating. Shipped as numbered modules with an assembly sequence and node drawings for the local contractor.
