Arc Curved Banquette

Arc Curved Banquette

A segmental banquette whose slatted back follows the curve — every slat cut to its own angle.

The piece

The Arc Curved Banquette is a quarter-plan seat with a solid timber frame and an open slatted back that runs the full sweep of the curve. It is the piece we point at when a client asks what “complex customisation” actually means.

No Two Slats Alike

On a straight bench every slat is the same part. On a curve, each slat sits on a different tangent, so the face angle, the seating shoulder and the spacing all shift slat by slat. They are machined from a single cutting list generated off the setting-out drawing, dry-assembled on the shop floor against a full-scale template, and only then finished — because a slat that is one degree out is visible from across a room once there are sixty of them in a row.

Frame First

The curved rails are laminated from thin stock over a form, which holds the radius without the short grain a solid bent rail would carry. Upholstery is built as separate seat and back pads so a worn pad can be swapped without dismantling the frame.

Radius, arc length, slat pitch and covering are specified per project; longer sweeps ship as numbered segments that bolt together through the frame. Lead time confirmed with the quotation.

Materials & finishes

  • Laminated curved rails formed over a shop template
  • Solid timber slats, each machined to its own tangent angle
  • Separate seat and back pads, independently replaceable
  • Stain and lacquer to control sample
  • Numbered bolted segments for long sweeps

Any colour, any finish, any texture — the options above are starting points, not limits.
